I started off with painting the main trees so that I could get an idea of how they would fit on the board. I held my breath well doing this, if I had made a big mistake I wouldn't have been able to fix it up because i didn't have a back colour, it turns out I didn't mess it up to much. I used a mixture of Burnt Umber/White/Black coloured Acrylic Paint. |
Next naturally was the green for the tree's and the ground, I ran into three problems here.....One - it's meant to be a night scene, Two - I had to use green on both the trees and the ground. I did the tree's first mixing 1-3 shades of green with black and I broke up the green with a little water in the corner of the ground to sorta make it less...well Green. |
After that I added the stars and the moon, to make it seem again less...unsteady...I used a mix of white, black and sliver paint for the stars and moon. After the moon I blocked out the area for the Owls. I used white paint to begin with, then slowly I shaped and detailed the owls in the process we lost a owl but that's to be expected. |
After getting the shape right and the positioning I went in with Black paint and a Small detail brush to try and enhance the the Shape/outline of the owls also add little details I could colour in later. This proved harder then I had originally thought it would be however! it worked out in the end just not exactly how I envisioned. |
I shaded a little but only enough so that it wasn't blending into the background.
